ORGANISER`S MESSAGE :
WELCOME TO THE KERNOW PIPES & DRUMS WEBSITE
We
hope you find our website interesting and welcome any comments,
hopefully nice ones please. For those who have visited our web
site before, can you please press the refresh button on your
browser to update our web site?
I
would like to say welcome to our newest members Tom and Issy.
We
would also like to say a big thank you to all our supporters
and organisations who have all enjoyed our association and friendship.
The
band would welcome any sponsorships to keep our band going for
Cornwall and invite you to call us.
High
points this year was joining with Devon & Somerset Fire
and Rescue, North Devon Pipeband and the Glasgow Strathclyde
University Army Officer Training Core, taking part in the 999
Eemergency Services Day at the Eden Project. Then in September
we are taking part in the 65th Anniversary Operation Market
Garden in Arnhem, Holland.
On
11th July the band have been asked to lead the new National
Servicemens Day being held in Falmouth at 1600hrs. We would
welcome other pipe bands from outside of Cornwall to join us
for this event.
During our early formation and outside of the piping season
we enjoyed helping raise several thousands of pounds for local
charities in Cornwall. Recently
our Musical Director Nigel Warmington raised £174 for
the Help the Heroes campaign playing in Truro.
Three cheers for Nige!
We welcome any playing pipe band members or individuals to join
us for events we have planned, just contact us! If you are down
here on holiday...then please come and see us, you will be made
most welcome.
Last year we played for HRH the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall
at a naming ceremony of the new St Mawes Ferry, the Duchess
of Cornwall. Seen here with Dave Maitland and Ian Phillips.

Here, HRH took great interest in our band, spending considerable
time talking to us and asking about the Cornish Hunting Tartan
we wore, at the same time sharing a private joke. Although he
could not speak to everyone, he did extend his best wishes to
all the ranks behind us..

The band are currently recruiting new Pipers, both as learners
and playing pipers. So if you fancy taking up this unique art,
please contact us.
Best wishes to you all.
Don Phillips.
