PATRON
TO THE BAND :
LORD
- LIEUTENANT OF CORNWALL
LADY
MARY HOLBOROW J.P.
CHAIRMANS
MESSAGE :
WELCOME TO THE KERNOW PIPES & DRUMS WEBSITE, we hope you find
our website interesting and welcome any comments, hopefully
nice ones please.
This
month, we would like to thank Lady Mary Holborow J.P. for kindly
accepting our invitataion to be Patron of the band.
I
would like to say a big thank you to all our members, supporters
and organisations who have all enjoyed our association and friendship.
We hope to repay your confidence in us, by once again, serving
your needs in future events.
Although a self funded new band, we now have some 24 members, who have numerous years of playing in both military and civilian bands. Should you wish to sponsor the band in any way, we will be more than pleased to chat with you.
During our early formation and outside of the piping season we have helped raise several thousands of pounds for local charities this year in Cornwall. We have helped Marie Curie Cancer Care, The Army Benevolant Fund, Derriford Hospital, Cornwall Air Ambulance and several childrens charities.
We welcome any pipe band members or individuals to join us for events we have planned, just contact us! If you are down here on holiday...then please come and see us, you will be made most welcome.
Recently, we played for HRH the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall at a naming ceremony of the new St Mawes Ferry, the Duchess of Cornwall. Seen here with
Dave Maitland and Ian Phillips.

Here, HRH took great interest in our band, spending considerable time talking to us and asking about the Cornish Hunting Tartan we wore, at the same time sharing a private joke. Although he could not speak to everyone, he did extend his best wishes to all the ranks behind us..

The band are currently looking to recruit new Pipers, both as learners and playing pipers. So if you fancy taking up this unique art, please contact us.
Best wishes to you all.
Don Phillips. Chairman
