About Us

Hi and welcome to our bands web site.......

We are based in our capital City of Truro and are very gratefull to Captain D Simmons, D Company, 6th Rifles, Territorial Army Barracks, Truro, in allowing us to practice each Thursday evening from 1930hrs to 2130hrs.

Details of the practice venue can be obtained from the CONTACTS page.

We have adopted the Green Cornish Hunting tartan for our band uniform and can turn out in Full No1 dress as worn by Dave Maitland on the right or modest No2`s.

We currently have members of both sexes and a youth contingent. The band is made up of 34 members, making up the pipe, snare, tennor and bass sections and are always on the lookout for new members. We have an active tuition program currently with 7 learner pipers and 2 drummers and hold winter workshops at St Agnes. All tuition is free of charge.

We understand that we will rarely get a 100% turnout due to the work nature of our members, but, can always turn out a decent band.

The band, has in its short time, evolved strong links with the Royal British Legions and local Councils here in Cornwall performing at parades, marches and stage shows. We have also helped many village fetes and carnivals and provided for Weddings and Funerals. We have performed for members of the Royal Family, appeared on TV and have played at International events abroad.

Out of the piping season we have actively supported many charity events in the county raising money for their own causes. This year will see the band taking part in Pipefest Edinburgh, with hopefully 10,000 pipers and drummers from all over the world. Our aim is to raise much needed money for Marie Curie Cancer Care here in Cornwall together with our Veterens Charity Help the Heroes.

We are a happy bunch and believe the band is built from everyone`s efforts and each individual is treated with the same respect as every one else.
