About Us

Hi and welcome to the bands web site.......

The bands Musical Director is Dave Maitland, seen here on the left. The tartan being worn is the Cornish Hunting.

We are based in our capital City of Truro and are very gratefull to Captain Manley of D Company, 6th Rifles, Territorial Army Barracks, Truro, in allowing us to practice each Thursday evening from 1900hrs to 2130hrs. Details of the practice venue can be obtained from the CONTACTS page.

We currently have members of both sexes and a youth contingent. The band is made up of 24 members, 12 Pipers, 5 Side Drummers, 4 Tennor Drummers, Kevin on the Bass Drum and currently have 2 members learning.

We understand that we will rarely get a 100% turnout due to the work nature of our members, but, can always turn out a decent band.

Unlike other bands, we have had no outside funding to provide uniform and equipement, relying on the fantastic commitment of our members who have purchased all of their own uniform. Not an easy task in this period of financial instability.

We have adopted the Green Cornish Hunting tartan for our band uniform. The majority of our band members have already purchased the new kilt and plaids to promote the band and represent the County.

We hope that somebody out there in our lovely county, may help to sponsor us kit out the rest of the band, so that we are all uniform.

The band, has in its short time, evolved strong links with the Royal British Legions here in Cornwall, performing at several parades, marches and stage shows. We have also helped many village fetes and carnivals and provided for Weddings and Funerals. Out of the piping season we have actively supported many charity events in the county raising money for their own causes. In particular, Marie Curie Cancer Care.

We are a happy bunch and do not have rank or file, we believe the band is built from everyone`s efforts and each individual is treated with the same respect as every one else.
