May we give a warm welcome to all our
new members who have joined us in 2009 and hope you all enjoy
the band as much as every one else.
Once again Kernow Pipes and Drums where
asked to take part in an auspicious occasion by welcoming HMS
Cornwall back from active service to her berth at Devonport
Dockyard, Plymouth.

Here the band took time out to have
a photo shoot whilst all the crew were being greeted by their
family and friends. A very emotional time was had by all.

After the arrival of HMS Cornwall, the
band was rewarded by the presentation of the ships plaque.

Here, Piper, David Cox prepares to show
the officers and crew that the best pipe band in Cornwall are
their to greet them home to their loved ones.

Also this year we had half the band attend
the Airborne Forces 65th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden
in Arnhem, Holland. During the weekend we played at Arnhem,
crossing the John Frost Bridge ( A Bridge to Far ) in the Arnhem
Vitesse F.C. Gelredrome Stadium in front of 20,000 people and
also at Oosterbeek and Ginkel Heath.

During our stay, the massed bands had
three Liason Officers from the Dutch Army seen here with Senior
Drum Major George Ablass from the The Pipes and Drums of The
Royal British Legion, Amsterdam Branch. They ensured everything
went like clockwork.

The band joined 1st & 4th Batt Royal
Regiment of Scotland, Pipe & Drums Royal Artillery, City
of Rochester Pipe and Drums, Pipes and Drums of Glenmorriston,
Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue and North Devon Pipes and
Drums at the Airborne Forces 65th Anniversary of Operation Market
Garden, held in Arnhem Holland. The massed bands are seen here
at Ginkel Heath, whilst we were playing, overhead a total of
1000 parachutists were dropped throughout the morning.

IThe massed bands crossing the John Frost
Bridge in Arnhem, leading down to the wreath laying ceremony.

Leaving the pitch of the Arnhem Vitesse
Gelredrome Stadium. The band marched onto the pitch to a roar
from the spectaters and formed a huge 65 representing the 65th
anniversary.

This year also saw the band perform for
the first time at a charity event held in Trewithin Gardens
helping to raise funds for the Merlin Project. Here the band,
led by Nigel Warmington, Stuart Nicholls and Rob Jenkins, wore
several different tartans to add interest to the day.

Seen here at Lands End, the band did
several performances for the the public, helping to raise funds
for the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Playing at her first outing with the
band is our new piper Sam, flanked by Alex McColl and Tom Gower.

Not to be outdone by the pipers, the drum
team on display at the Polperro Festival, consisted of, and
left to right, Chenda Newton, Phil Freil, Teresa Cake, Paul
Wilkinson, Vaughan Pickhaver, Kevin Morrow, Andy Morrow, Geoff
Mitchell and Tom Wheeler
Question : Why are they all
looking so happy?
Answer : Because they are
playing with a great bunch of pipers!

As well as our usual engagements the
band are only to happy to perform at weddings, here are some
pipers and lovely bridsmaids at Alison and Christians wedding.
Alison is the daughter of our member, Tom Wheeler. We tried
to sign the girls up to become pipers but could not pursuade
them.
AND FINALLY>>>>>>
Kernow pipers will play anywhere within
reason. The surfers and holiday makers enjoyed this performance
at Fistral Beach, Newquay.
