MAJORS MESSAGE :
WELCOME TO THE KERNOW PIPES & DRUMS WEBSITE.
We
hope you find our website interesting and welcome any comments,
hopefully nice ones please. For those who have visited our web

Seen below is a small contingent of the band pictured with our
Patron, Lady Mary Holborow at Pendennis Castle, Falmouth opening
the start of the Cornwall Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

On
behalf of the band I would like to say a big thank you to all
our supporters and organisations who have all enjoyed our association
and friendship throughout this year. Again the band is growing
in its popularity, as you can see by our very busy diary. Already,
engagements are coming in for 2010.
The
band would welcome any sponsorships to keep our band going for
Cornwall and invite you to call us.
High
points last year was the privledge of playing for the arrival
of H.M.S. Cornwall at Devonport, Plymouth. We were very kindly
presented with the ships plaque for a job well done.
The
band also took part in the Airborne Forces 65th Anniversary
Operation Market Garden in Holland, playing at Arnhem, Oosterbeek
and Ginkel Heath.
In
July the band will once again lead the 2nd National Servicemens
Day being held in Falmouth. Although a small event at present,
I`m sure this will develop throughout the Country. We would
welcome other pipe bands from outside of Cornwall to join us
for this event next year.
This year will see the band performing in Edinburgh at the Pipefest
Global Challenge with 10,000 pipers and drummers helping to
raise much needed money for our designated charities, please
see our calendar page.
We
welcome any playing pipe band members or individuals to join
us for events we have planned, just contact us! If you are down
here on holiday...then please come and see us, you will be made
most welcome.
The band has also played for HRH the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall
at a naming ceremony of the new St Mawes Ferry, the Duchess
of Cornwall. Seen here with Dave Maitland and Ian Phillips.

Here, HRH took great interest in our band, spending considerable
time talking to us and asking about the Cornish Hunting Tartan
we wore, at the same time sharing a private joke. Although he
could not speak to everyone, he did extend his best wishes to
all the ranks behind us..

The band are currently
recruiting new Pipers, both as learners and playing pipers.
So if you fancy taking up this unique art, please contact us.
Its not all hard work
at the Kernow Pipes and Drums, here are some of our members
taking time out to learn some Scottish dancing for the bands
annual Christmas dinner.

Many thanks for visiting
our web site. Lets hope we meet during the piping season.
Best wishes from all
in the band.
Don Phillips.
